LBI secures first place

RUMFORD -- The regular season came to a close this past Sunday, as LBI (11-1) secured first place.
Hotel Rumford (10-2) finished second and Bethel Bobcats (9-3) finished third. Both LBI and Hotel Rumford will receive a first round bye in the opening playoff games.
Bethel will play The Thundercats (0-12) and Black Bear Industries (4-8) will play Archies (2-10). LBI will then play the lower remaining seed the following week and Hotel Rumford will play the higher remaining seed.
In game one, Hotel Rumford spanked The Thundercats again, 116-56. Hotel got 38 points from Kevin Gallant (8 threes), 23 from Dan Thibeault, 22 from Scot New and 18 from Craig Milledge. The Thundercats were led by Mike Leclerc (21 points, 5 threes), Tom Leclerc (12 points on 4 threes) and TJ Swan (10 points).
In game two, LBI doubled Black Bear Industries, 100-50. Chris Baxter led LBI with 29 points, Eric Canwell and Joe Gaudreau had 18 apiece (Gaudreau with 6 threes), Jon Benjamin added 11 and Brian Canwell 10. Myles Whitlock was BBI's leader with 17 points, Craig Jacques had 12 and Josh Albee 10.
In the finale, Bethel outlasted Archies 76-62. Matt Zetts was high man with 25 points for the victors, while Wade Osgood (21 points), Ryan Savage (15 points) and Matt Newell (10 points) rounded out the scoring leaders. Archies' Brett Archibauld got 16 points and Jarrod Chessie 11 to lead their team.
