MV Rec League results

MEXICO -- Laid Back Installers (10-1), Hotel Rumford (9-2) and Bethel Bobcats (8-3) were all victorious this past weekend.

LBI and Bethel won in blow out victories. Black Bear Industries (4-7) couldn't get enough players together and forfeited its game to Hotel Rumford.

Bethel got 51 points from their big men, Matt Newell (26) and Matt Zetts (25) and dominated the boards against a winless Thundercats (0-11). Wade Osgood contributed 15 points and Ryan Kimball had 13. The Thundercats' Mike Leclerc had a good shooting game with 21 points and 5 threes. Tom Leclerc was next with 17 points and Jessie Cross had 12.

LBI was too fast, quick and strong for Archies (2-9) and won in dominant fashion, 114-59.

LBI spread the wealth and had 5 players in double figures. Chris Baxter led with 30 points, Eric Canwell was next with 26, Jon Benjamin had 17, Brian Canwell and Glen Dubois with 12 each. Archies' Kenny Armstrong had a decent shooting game and led his team with 24 points, while Justin Archibauld and Mike Holmquist had 15 points each.

Sunday will be the end of the regular season. Games will be played at Mountain Valley Middle School. At 10 a.m., Hotel Rumford and The Thundercats play. At 11:30, LBI and Black Bear Industries play. Then Bethel and Archies finish up at 1 p.m.

The league is also gearing up for their invitational basketball tournament March 22-24 following the playoffs. The 16-team, two-division tournament is open to players 18 and older and benefits the Mountain Valley Athletic Boosters. There are currently 10 teams already signed up.
