VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR -- Dan Garbarini (left) is presented the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Greater Rumford Community Center by Bob Anderson, program director. Garbarini, who has coached sports like soccer, basketball and baseball over the past six years, played at the GRCC as a kid and remembers the important role his coaches (mentors) were in his life and felt it was important to return that experience. He appreciates the human element involved with coaching, and that many youngsters he coaches do not even realize he is also a police officer. (Times photo by Bruce Farrin)
