Falcon slalom teams defeat Telstar
RUMFORD -- In a slalom race held at Black Mountain on Thursday, both the Mountain Valley boys and girls were victorious over the Telstar teams.
The Falcon girls won by 16-20, with the MVHS boys winning by 11-31.
Leading the MVHS girls were Courtney Carlson, first at 1:20:02 on her two runs. Teammates Elizabeth Adley (1:16.82), Rebecca Maifeld (1:53.42) and Katie Collette (1:52.92) placed fourth through sixth.
For the MVHS boys, Nate Nicols led all skiiers with a time of 1:06.26, followed by Nate Papsadora at 1:10.84 and Darren Jodrey at 1:12.73.
Placing fifth through eighth were David Adley (1:16.82), Eric Billings (1:21.24), Noah Tanguay-Collins (1:26.14) and Nick Woods (1:30.92). Ian Sweetser (1:39.09) placed 11th, followed by teammate Lance Richard (1:49.10).
There were eight schools participating in a 5K classical race.
For the boys, Maranacook was first at 18, followed by Mt. Abram at 37, Telstar at 47, Livermore Falls at 88, Edward Little at 94, Mountain Valley at 99, Dirigo at 105 and Monmouth at 114.
Edward Little won the girls' race with 22 points, with Maranacook at 23, Mt. Abram at 39, Winthrop at 73, Mountain Valley at 92, Dirigo at 111, Livermore Falls at 119 and Jay at 134.
Nick Woods led the Falcons boys, placing seventh with a time of 22:35.9. Teammate Lance Richard placed 30th at 28:19.1.
Dirigo was led by Sawyer Smith, who placed 19th at 25:33.1.
The MVHS girls' were led by Samantha Glover, who placed 14th with a time of 29:28.7. Teammates Hannah LaPointe (30:59.3) and Katie Mills (35:58.0) placed 19th and 27th, respectively.
Dirigo was led by Silvia Lutick (32:24.9) and Krystal Blood (32:49.4), who placed 21st and 22nd, respectively.
